The Owner of the Pelham Bridge Hotel Sold it for the Princely Sum of
$22,000 in 1869
For many years a little hotel stood near the Pelham Bridge. An image of
the hotel, derived from a glass negative in the collections of The Office
of The Historian of The Town of Pelham, appears immediately below.

In 1869, a tiny item appeared in the New York Herald reporting that the
Pelham Bridge Hotel had been sold for the princely sum of $22,000. As part
of my efforts to document the history of the area, I have transcribed the
brief text of the report immediately below.
"REAL ESTATE NOTES . . .
Charles Freeman has sold the Pelham Bridge Hotel property in the town
of Pelham, to William Florence for $22,000. . . ."
