Palmer, who later sought to develop City Island and who was the son-in-law of
Thomas Pell, Third Lord of the Manor of Pelham, places an announcement in The
New-York Mercury seeking subscriptions to fund a free bridge from the northern
tip of Manhattan to the mainland. Source: [Untitled], The

06/07/1883 - Members of the Manor
Club hold a meeting at which plans are made for a permanent home for the Club to
be called "The Manor House".
