BASEBALL NOTES.

The Pelham Athletic Club has organized their ’97 teams and are now prepared to arrange games with any good teams.  The week day team is as follows:

Otto Sewall, left field.
Edward Whalen, third base.
G. Minard, pitcher.
Frank Bienz, center field.
Harry Patterson, first base.
D.A. Walsh, catcher.
Fred Bienz, second base.
Courter Dick, short stop.
Arthur Penfield, right field.

The team has been practicing daily in the orchard and are now in pretty good condition.

The Sunday team will be somewhat stronger and will be composed of the pick of Pelham’s ball tossers.  It will be as follows:

D.A. Walsh, catcher.
Nick Walsh, second base.
Chas. Dickenson, center field.
Fred Bienz, short stop.
Edward Whalen, third base.
Andrew Heisser, pitcher.
John Rohrs, first base.
Hector Dickenson, right field.
Frank Bienz, left field.

They have secured the grounds back of the White Hotel and are in splendid condition.  The opening game will doubtless begin next Sunday, when they expect to cross bats with N.R.A.C.  Heisser and Deveau will be the opposing pitchers.  Heisser always was a stumbling block for the New Rochelle, and Deveau, their crack pitcher, is not much feared by the Pelhams.  When backed by the P.A.C., however, he can put up a good game.

Andy Heisser, by the way, has his arm in good shape and the old familiar cry of “Strike one!  Strike two!  Strike three!  Stricker out!” will again rend the air in the immediate vicinity of the “white elephant.”

Judging from the way they are breaking bats in practice games, the teams will do some heavy batting this year.

The boys are getting the old “Wanregan shooting grounds” in good shape for Saturday games.  A new backstop will be necessary and all the bases will have to be remeasured and replace.

The new suits have not been ordered yet and in all probability last year’s suits will be used again this year.

D.A. Walsh’s left finger which was knocked out of joint last Sunday week is now much improved.
